Gettysburg, the battlefield & how to find us
Everything you need to plan a visit — the National Military Park, the ground our tours cover, where to meet us on 100 Sample Street, parking, driving directions, and the Adams County towns we serve.
Where the Battle of Gettysburg was fought
The Battle of Gettysburg was fought July 1–3, 1863, across the ridges, fields, and hills that surround the borough of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Today that ground is preserved as Gettysburg National Military Park, one of the most visited Civil War sites in the country, with more than 1,300 monuments spread across roughly 6,000 acres. Our tours are designed to make sense of that landscape — not just the maps, but the actual rises and swales where the fighting turned.
The pin beside a name opens that ground on the field map.
Seminary & Cemetery Ridge
Two long parallel ridges shaped the battle. Seminary Ridge, marked by the cupola of the old Lutheran seminary, became the Confederate line after the first day's fighting. Facing it, Cemetery Ridge anchored the Union “fishhook” and became the target of Pickett's Charge on July 3. Our Battlefield Highlights Walking Tour crosses Cemetery Ridge and McPherson Ridge to connect all three days into a single, walkable story.
Little Round Top, Big Round Top & Devil's Den
At the southern end of the field, Little Round Top and Big Round Top command the high ground Union forces fought to hold on July 2. Just below them, the jumbled boulders of Devil's Den saw brutal close fighting. Our Little Round Top & Devil's Den Hike climbs this rugged terrain with time to explore the rocks and take in the view sharpshooters once used.
Downtown, the Cemetery & the David Wills House
The story doesn't end on the field. Lincoln Square is the civic heart of downtown Gettysburg. The David Wills House on the square is where Abraham Lincoln finished the Gettysburg Address the night before delivering it at the dedication of the Soldiers' National Cemetery. Our evening Ghosts of Gettysburg Lantern Walk winds through these downtown streets after dark, pairing real wartime accounts with the buildings where they happened.
Where to meet us & parking
This concept uses a sample ticket office at 100 Sample Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325 — not a live storefront. Use downtown public lots and metered street parking near Lincoln Square. Evening lantern walks use a sample downtown meet at the Lincoln Square flagpole (tour geography) — look for your guide holding a lit lantern.
Driving directions
From the north or south, take US-15 to the Gettysburg exits, then follow Baltimore Street toward downtown. From the east or west, US-30 (York Street / Chambersburg Street / Lincoln Highway) leads straight into Lincoln Square. Baltimore Street is a main downtown approach in this narrative, not a live office pin. Most guests arriving from Harrisburg, York, Hanover, or the Maryland line reach downtown in well under an hour.
