Ninety minutes to three hours through Gettysburg's Historic District — the real story of July 1863, told stop by stop, with a tasting waiting at every corner.
First Shot began in 2018 when local historian Dana Meckley got tired of watching visitors speed-walk past Gettysburg's Historic District straight to the battlefield — missing the town that lived through it. She teamed up with three restaurant-owning friends and built a tour that treats a meal like a primary source.
Every guide on our team is a certified Adams County history interpreter who also happens to know exactly which bakery pulls its sticky buns out of the oven at 10:15. We keep groups small (12 guests, max) so questions get real answers and nobody's stuck at the back of the pack.
Four ways to taste the town, a live booking calendar, and a full map of the route through downtown Gettysburg — start wherever you like.

“We've done a dozen food tours across the country — this is the only one where I learned something at every single stop, not just at the start.”
“Our guide made the Wills House come alive, and then we were eating scrapple biscuits ten minutes later. Somehow it worked perfectly.”
“Booked the Twilight Taps tour for a bachelorette weekend. Equal parts spooky, informative, and delicious. Would absolutely do it again.”
